The Beat Surrender

Slade...a band that have been massively overlooked in many respects due to the fact they never took themselves seriously and are as such classed as a bit of novelty act that have their songs wheeled out for Christmas each year.

Which is a shame because they had a lot more going for them than just the couple of Christmas songs we all now and love, they also produced some brilliant pop singles in the shape of Coz I Love You, Mam, Weer All Crazy Now and Gudbuy T’Jane...in fact with six number one singles and a host other top ten hits the list is endless.

A compilation like this doesn’t help to swell the tide of opinion amongst the younger end of todays market though. While it does feature some very good tracks, loosely setting the theme around the soundtrack to the office party with tracks like Okey Cokey and All Join Hands accompanying the Christmas tracks, doesn’t do them any favours.

The fact is that the bands remastered studio albums would present better value and if it’s a quick fix you want them i’m sure there are better compilations out there, as it is this record company…ker-ching…ker-ching… compiled effort is a slackly produced taster album at best.
