Laura Lopez Castro - Mi Libro Abierto
This is the debut album from twenty-something, Laura Lopez Castro, the daughter of Spanish Immigrants who grew up in Stuttgart, Germany. Joining her on the album is composer Don Philippe who also plays guitar and who’s influence you can feel running throughout the music on this album.
Castro has a seductively soft voice that is almost like the female equivalent of Jose Gonzalez, it’s got a soft quality to it that lends itself to gentle phrasing and even gentler musical workouts behind her vocal.
That’s exactly what you get on Mi Libro Abierto, chilled out flamenco and jazz all mingle well with classical strings. A delightful listen even if you can’t understand a word of what is being sung if you are as language inadequate as I am!
The album is out now on Nesola Records and will be released in the UK through Four Music.
