The Beat Surrender

If you are under the age of twenty I can understand why you’d love Hadouken! they have a real vibrancy and youthful exuberence about them, they are colourful and their live shows are supposed to be something else.

From someone who is comfortably out of that age range (32) a couple of things stand out for me listening to Music For An Accelerated Culture. The first one is that the actual dance/rave background music all sounds a little dated to an old timer who was around the first time.

The second and most positive thing going for the band though is that the lyrics are actually pretty damn good and they really do have something to say, add to that the fact they have a sense of fun within the lyrics as well and hints at a bright future for the band.

For the time being though i’m sure they’ll be happy to soundtrack young lives, they sum themselves up and their potential futures best when they sing “welcome to our world, we are the wasted youth and your future too” on Get Smashed Gate Crash...quite.
