Guile - My Salvation / You Had It All
Guile are a four-piece from Cannock who according to the press release have been getting a bit of exposure and a buzz around them recently..”a plethora of critical plaudits ringing in their ears” no less.
Well maybe it’s the ringing in the ears that is responsible for the fact that in my uninformed opinion they have produced a decidely average double a-side single to lay their marker to the musical world.
For me My Salvation does absolutely nothing to suggest that I should even begin to get excited about Guile, or even add them to my ones to watch this year list. Basic formulaic indie rock that drones from start to finish. You Had It All is better with the guitar work at least drawing me into the song.
Not quite enough musical guile it seems to me (at the moment).
The single is out now through Salvation Records.
