Pete Brame - My Secret Suicide

Where to start? The great vocals, the deep and meaningful lyrics or the fact that turbo shandies really are the best drink to start a night out! Yes its official because myself and Pete Brame have a common joy of mixing Smirnoff Ice and Lager (preferably Stella for the hardcore amongst us).

Right now thats settled, back to business and the debut album from Pete titled My Secret Suicide. When I first picked up the album to see what I had to review this week I put this one to the side, thinking this album was going to be dreary and depressing. First impressions are funny things though. About thirty seconds into Static Believer, which opens the album I realised this was going to be something right up my street. Although the songs are deep and meaningful they are by no means depressing.

Pete shows bags of talent with his great vocals together with well thought out and constructed lyrics which make this album what it is. A success! Is there any better sound than a young chap strumming away whilst reminiscing on his ups and downs. The from the heart lyrics draw you in and you can’t help but sit back, relax and admire. Most of the album is based around the simpe set up of Pete’s vocals and guitar but one of my favourite tracks which is also the title track, My Secret Suicide features Pete playing the Piano.

I hope this album is a big success as there are a lot of strong songs on this album which would indicate a big future. Lost for Good is another track which has quickly been added to my most listened to playlist. It was not surprised to see that Pete had listed the likes of Ryan Adams and The Verve amongst his favourite artists of all time.

This is such an honest piece of work and the way in which Pete and producer Joe Hay have presented the album makes this one to definitely add to your shopping cart in the near future. All in all Pete can be very happy with his debut offering.
