Myriad Creatures - Myriad Creatures EP
Myriad Creatures were formed in 2006, comprising of Jamie Croft on vocals and guitar, Andy Tyler Bass and vocals and Matt Furgher on Drums. The band have already done two tours in the UK, one in Germany and have several dates booked in the Czech Republic and Dresden plus several more at many of the European Festivals this summer. They have also supported Little Man Tate, Yeti and Bad Manners.
First track on the EP is the current single The Hero, Fairly typical intro from a young rock band, strong drum beat, punk influences evident, strong on the bass. Can imagine this will be a great live track. Next up is Throwaway, more rock and roll influenced, jerky vocals appear to be the signature of this band, again very strong drumbeat and bass.
Third track is No show From Rilo, really strong vocal, into crashing guitars and strong bass/drum. This is a live track without a doubt. Jamie Croft has a young voice but with Andy Tyler providing additional vocal he carries it off with style and maturity. Last track is Change Your Ways, starts slower and stays this way, liked bits of this but unfortunately something didn’t just jell, the guitars were good and vocals melodic, however when it jumped into the rock parts it felt disjointed.
The band seems to be spending much of their time in Berlin/Germany and plan to release a second EP in the summer. I liked this EP it shows great promise, with the right support and direction they could be a band to look out for.
