Les Valentine - Nervous
Brighton based Les Valentine who were a duo but now a foursome with the addition of Jo Walters on Piano and Pet McFarlane on drums to the existing line up of John Fitzpatrick and Steve Boniface.
Nervous is a bright, breezy, fun and easy on the ear pop track. Sadly for me this was an all too brief insight into Les Valentine, what I heard made me feel that there was more to them than this track but if you put out a promo with only one track on it then this is a risk you take. The track its self has all the requirements of a good pop track, well written/performed and produced.
The lyrics are simple with repetitive lines. Sadly, these were instantly forgotten as the track finished. What they need is something to stop the listener in their tracks, something you remember for the right reasons. Les Valentine are talented, but unfortunately for me this single just doesn’t do them justice.
