Unkle - Night’s Temper EP (A Prelude To War Stories)
Despite DJ Shadow jumping ship after the first album, the return of James Lavelle in his Unkle guise is still a massive cause for celebration. As with previous albums the forthcoming War Stories is set to feature some amazing collaborations and as a taster for the forthcoming single Burn My Shadow on the 25th June, they have released this very limited (1,000 copies) double 7” vinyl box set.
It doesn’t disappoint, Chemistry and Morning Rage sugest that things are heading down a rockier almost Queens Of The Stone Age route on the first 7”, then on the second we get Persons & Machinery and Mayday, two tracks that are much closer to the brooding dance territory we are used to from Unkle. Mayday inparticular is a real gem with the vocals coming courtesy of Duke Spirit frontwoman Liela Moss.
