No Hope In New Jersey - Decline

One for the big hair brigade me thinks with this one. No Hope In New Jersey, despite hailing from Manchester, have American rock music as the inspiration and genre very much in their line of sight with this release.

Razor sharp riffs and some quick stepping guitar lines do little to enhance what is a fairly bog standard song otherwise. The vocals don’t seem to really fit with the music, something that sounds like it wants to be heavy needs a stronger vocalist than they’ve got, instead it’s a fairly winesome drone.

They list Metallica, Neil Young, David Bowie and Fugazi as influences, unfortunately that hybrid doesn’t materialise on Decline. No doubt a band that is going places with the likes of Kerrang getting behind them, for me though i’ll jump off now and leave them in peace to enjoy the ride.

A review of the album A Steady Diet Of Decline will follow shortly from our ever trusty rock hack The Manager.

Decline is out on the 8th August, with the album following on the 22nd.
