Bob Marley & The Wailers - No Woman, No Cry (Live)

A man that should need no introduction having worked tirelessly over the length of his career to introduce reggae to a wider audience, likewise this track should be one that most people are more than familiar with.

No Woman, No Cry was released as a single on the 31st October as the first of six (coming out weekly) that are all limited edition and can be collected in a box set. The reason for the release is Africa Unite – The Singles Collection, a two disc release that see’s all his Island Records releases on one disc and his JAD releases from 1966-1972 on the other disc and is available from the 7th November.

While it would be easy to be cynical about this release, its the first time that a lot of these tracks have been made available on one release, with some real gems in amongst them. This single in fact is a live version, longer than the original and his vocals coming across stronger and even more emotive than the original recording, it’s heightened by the crowd singing along to the chorus, reminding you just what Bob Marley meant to so many people.
