Shy Child - Noise Won’t Stop
Shy Child have got it tough if they are going to really make it, I’ve quite liked the singles so far but an album is always harder to sustain the quality on than a three and a half minute pop single and that really proves the case with debut long player Noise Won’t Stop.
Don’t get me wrong there is nothing fundamentally wrong with this album, it’s all just way too similar when you throw it all together on one album. It leaves you wondering what they can bring to the indie/dance table that everyone is currently feasting on, that hasn’t already been done by The Rapture, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, The Klaxons, CSS and Sunshine Underground.
Which is where the problem lies for them, Drop The Phone and Noise Won’t Stop were both decent singles but put them in and amongst The Volume, Summer, Kick Drum etc they all blend into one too easily. The only track that really still stands the test of the album for me is the closer Cause And Effect. This at least hints at something different.
The album is out now through Wall Of Sound.
