Hed Kandi - Nu Disco (HK 097)

A lot of the Hed Kandi material has been up and down in quality over the last two or three years, but they seem to have found a level of good consistency with the Nu Disco series they launched.

The latest one is just as good as last April’s double album, once again it’s two discs of brilliantly modern tracks with plenty of surprises thrown into the mix.

While you wouldn’t see Ali Love, Chromeo, Fred Falke, Crazy P and Vitalic as big surprises to feature on here, when you see remixes of the likes of Editors, The Temper Trap, Simian Mobile Disco, Holy Ghost and Passion Pit might well have raised a few eyebrows.

As it is they fit seamlessy into a brilliant blend of new electro, funked up slinky disco and house that edges itself nearer to late 70’s disco…a quality album that will become the staple soundtrack in bedrooms up and down the country on Saturday nights as people get ready to go out and party.
