Nephu Huzzband - Paper EP
Nephu Huzzband are an indie four piece from Nottingham, god knows what the band name relates to but its pretty eye catching.
They described there own sound as anything from Emo to Indie to New wave, art rock and even punk. Influences listed as Sonic Youth, Joy Division and At The Drive In.
First track was Wallpaper, definitely influenced by Joy division, something about the guitar mix with the drum beat, it was so familiar, however the vocals are a little more ordinary than the late great Ian Curtis.
Following three tracks were all strangely similar in sound, same guitar, same drums and the same ordinary vocals. This could have been a really bad tribute band, they need to get out and make music which is there own, its ok to be influenced but you really shouldn’t copy and if you do make sure it’s not as distinctive as Joy Division.
