Happy Mondays - Playground Superstar
Playground Superstar is one of the few disappointing tracks on the excellent Goal! soundtrack, making for a poor return from Manchesters finest rabble rousers.
Everyone is aware of Shaun Ryder and Bez’s money troubles, however after Ryders recent contribution on the Gorillaz number one it was hoped that he’d be keeping a tight control on the quality of his output rather than jumping on the first cash cow that came his way.
Unfortunately it seems not to be the case as this is a wooden run through of a track that wouldn’t have graced a Black Grape b-side a decade ago, never mind it dragging the Happy Mondays name into it.
