Broadcaster - Primary Transmission
Broadcaster and Calum MacColl have produced Primary Transmission, an album come EP that uses the 1950’s and 1960’s BBC Radio Ballads series, fusing chilled-out dance music and vocal samples from the series, it makes an interesting blend.
Although it has a degree of invetiveness to it, its very much in the same vein as last years Future Loop Foundation album. The source material may be different, but the end result is the same a snapshot of Britain in the past put to some modern beats.
My only real criticism of it, is that it’s a little short at six tracks, you’re just getting into the British Working Mens Club meets Lemon Jelly soundtrack and then they are repeated again as radio edits this time.
