The Rascals - Rascalize

The Rascals have seen the pressure ramped up on this debut release considerably in the last few months, thanks in the main to Miles Kane’s collaboration with Alex Turner on the Last Shadow Puppets album that was met with considerable acclaim when released earlier this year.

The expectations around his band producing something of a similar quality is clearly there, however for me it was always likely to fall short of expectations having heard the early singles.

Rascalize isn’t going to be an album of the year contender i’m pretty sure about that, it is though a decent enough indie album with a batch of decent pop-rock singles on that do get stuck in your head after a couple of plays. Maybe now the debut is out of the way they can take some of the magic from Kane’s side project into their next album.
