Malefice - Relentless

Malefice are a five piece from Berkshire who have just released ‘Relentless’ – which, according to the accompanying literature is a “Mini Album” of 5 songs. I’d have called this an E.P. myself. The CD contains everything you would expect from a Death/Hardcore type band, there’s a decent bit of growling from the vocalist, some fast hard drumming and speedy guitars.

I don’t know if they’re really bringing anything new to the table for me – I’d need to hear more than five songs to make a fair judgement. They have got a lot of energy and have been getting some good reviews in the likes of Kerrang! and that (but what would them lot know?) Apparently they’re recording a new album (full length, I presume) in early 2007. I’d be interested to hear the album to see if there are any real stand out tracks. I expect I’ll see these guys supporting somebody big in the not too distant future – I’d like that, see if they are all they are cracked up to be.

The sound quality is fine, nothing to complain about there. Anyway, for now I’m undecided.

MALEFICE? NOWT SPESH.
