Rosie And The Goldbug - Rosie And The Goldbug

Rosie And The Goldbug could be just the band that pop music needs right now. Fusing new wave guitar to a more gothic pop sound, this impossibly attractive three-piece have a real ear for a tune that should, if they get the right break see them all over the radio.

The self-titled album has just dropped and while it doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel, it does at least give it a polish and general spruce up. Low bass, synths and then guitar lead us into the first track Lover, its a recent single and a strong start that is sustained well throughout the eleven tracks on offer here.

My personal favourite is probably the jerky pop of Butterfly that sounds like Kate Bush fronting The Clash, you can’t help but admire a track like Heartbreak which is suitably mournful. The only time they lose me slightly is on the track Soldier Blues which is a bit too high pitched for my liking.

It would be interesting to see what these are like live, i’d imagine the lead singer stalking the stage with a real air of confidence, or is that just wishful thinking on my part!
