Dub Pistols - Rum & Coke

Dub Pistols have had some fine moments on record over the years, but very rarely for me have they nailed a really solid album that did the singles justice..until now that is!

Rum & Coke is an essential Summer soundtrack, full of skanking, ska, hip-hop and sunshine filled pop moments, it’s the perect contemporary album for lounging by the pool with or adding a bit of musical fizz to your bbq.

They open with the recent single Back To Daylight, one of three tracks that utilises the vocals of Ashley Slater, it the best of the three but Song For Summer runs it close, while Everyday Stranger suffers for his inclusion as TK had already added his weight to the track and Slater clutters the track too much.

It’s the only blip though as you get solid hip hop grovers on Ganja, Revitalise and She Moves, a more soulful track with Six Months and for me two possible single releases with Keep The Fire Burning and I’m In Love, both of which have some very special guests.

For me it’s their best work to date and the first of what I hope will be many really good albums from the Dub Pistols moving forward.
