Wherewithal - Sixth Form Poetry / I Know This

Oh lovely stuff, it’s not just the title of the first track that takes me back in time with Wherewithal it’s the whole essence of the band. You see Sixth Form Poetry is a nifty little slice of indie pop that used to spring up all the time in the late eighties and early nineties when I first got really into music, unfortunately it seems to be a dying art form.

I’m not saying that Indie is dying, i’m saying that bands that have a confident, cool edge to them without having to rely on style or image to provide it for them is something that you don’t see very often now. You also don’t get such wry humour in the lyrics, coupled with strident arrangements like this anymore, which is why I love this debut double a-side release.

Their is a certain DIY ethic involved to it, you get the feeling they graft at making a success of this band because they love doing it and because they believe in what they do and long may that continue.

The single is out now on CD and limited edition 7” vinyl (500 copies) and is available to buy from the bands rather nice little website.
