Simple Kid - SK2
Simple Kid lives up to his name on his return to the music business with the title of his second album. like SK1 it follows a similar pattern musically, a real box of tricks that veers between the melodic brilliance of Beck (The Twenty Something) and the slightly folky (Old Domestic Cat) side to a lot of male singer-songwriters.
Having quit the music industry for a while on the back of a stressful tour after the release of his debut in 2003, it’s nice to see that he has recharged his batteries and come back with a strong, coherent album. I especially love Self-Help Book which contains some of the best lyrics of the year so far.
The album is out now through Country Gentleman Recordings.
