The Bribes - Suicide Granny
The Bribes area five-piece band from Headingley, Leeds, they’ve been together since 2005. I was lucky enough to catch them live at The Cockpit playing with Royworld and loved them. I’ve been listening to the EP for a few weeks now and while it shows great talent it lacks the energy of the live performance but what promise…
The band ooze confidence and appear oven ready for success, however that lucky break will need to find them and the production of the studio stuff needs a little bit of help. Opening track Heroine starts with a great guitar, immediately makes you want to dance along, the vocals blend together really well. Next track Woke Up is probably the weakest out of the three, the vocals seem slightly overwhelmed by the music but didn’t let this get me down as live it’s a completely different matter.
The last track is Would You Do It Again, great catchy chorus very danceable, great track could be a future single and from what I’ve heard is equal to if not better than lots of stuff currently getting national airplay on the radio.
I really hope this band get the breaks they deserve, if you get chance to see them live grab it, I defy you not to want to join in the dancing and shouting.
