Missill - Targets

Missill burst into the public eye three years ago with her mix compilation Mash Up, but now returns three years later with her first artists album proper. The DJ / graffiti writer has drafted in an impressive list of friends to help her with Targets, so deep breath…you get Dynamite MC, BluRum13, Junior Red, 9 Lives The Cat, Edu K and Baile Funk producer Chernobyl all adding to the album.

For me it’s really an album of two halves, the first half is very much a hip-hop meets electro album and the highlight is the opening song Forward that stars Dynamite MC. The second half of the album builds into a dance album mixed with crunching guitars, that reach a creative peak on the track Can’t Control Me, but noise level wise reach a real crescendo with the album finale.

A decent effort that has some great moments, I think if she could have written a couple more songs it would have sat better for me as two seperate albums.
