Duels - The Barbarians Move In

Duels are another fine Leeds band, who seem to have really grown in confidence and stature between the release of new album The Barbarians Move In and it’s predecessor The Bright Lights And What I Should Have Learned.

Live they are a visceral band that feed on intensity and a sullen darkness in their music and they’ve successfully transferred that into the album this time round. Less pop orientated and shiny, the album instead is sinister and dark, a brooding masterpiece that grows with every listen you give it.

A much underrated band who continue to go quietly about their business, i’m pretty sure their time will come at some point.
