Elbow - The Bones Of You

Rarely has an awards ceremony pleased me more since Carter USM jumped Philip Schofield, in fact up until this years Mercury Prize the nearest highlight to that was Michael Jackson having his ego and pomposity shown up by a gawky singer from Sheffield with a neat line in waving his backside.

This years Mercury didn’t please me for controversial reasons though, it was just sheer joy and satisfaction in seeing the good guys of music finally getting their just rewards, I’m talking about Elbow of course and their award win.

Rarely has a band deserved an award as much as Guy Garvey and pals, they have a real love of music that shines through in everything they do, real talent and back all this up with a humble and grateful attitude to their career and fans.

The only disappointment is that they haven’t hammered home this win with a full single release, instead the glorious The Bones Of You track is being made available as a digital release only, that though is typical of the understated way they go about their business.
