Franz Ferdinand - The Fallen

I was a little concerned about the Ferdinand. After the foot stomping brilliance of Take Me Out and Matinee they were rightfully rammed down the throat of the public consciousness.Since that time I felt they had lost their way a little and their tunes had become a bit samey.

All this is of course now said past tense as The Fallen, their third release from You Could Have It So Much Better is a little belter. A rip roaring start with incessant guitar infused throughout that has continually permeated through the heart of all their tunes. Franz Ferdinand’s songs do tend to be quite formulaic but what they do, they do well and as the old adage says “if it ain’t broke leave the bloody thing alone ”.

One of the best bands around live at the moment and I think that if they keep serving up gems like this then they will be around for some time . And that is no bad thing folks. The Fallen is out on 3rd April.
