The Peth - The Golden Mile

So you’ve just been dumped by one of the most beautiful and famous women in the world (Sienna Miller), your life is in turmoil (tabloid hell and a broken heart), what do you turn to as an actor?

Yep, music of course.

Now i’m always cynical about anyone involved in the acting profession getting involved in music, but it seems this year has been a decent exception as Scarlett Johansson proved with her album, some people can do both. It seems that Rhys Ifans could be another as well, his pedigree is basically being snapped stumbling around various festivals and gigs, but it seems he’s not without talent either as he fronts The Peth on their debut album The Golden Mile.

Featuring Dafydd Ieuan from The Super Furry Animals it’s a pleasingly psychedelic rock effort that at times does swerve a little too near lad rock for it’s own good, particularly on the new single Let’s Go Fucking Mental, but is esssentially a well put together album, decent vocals and some hazy backing music make it a pretty good effort from the 9 piece.
