Peter Moren - The Last Tycoon
Peter Moren is better known as one third of Norwegian super-whistle group Peter Bjorn and John, who shot to fame and possibly a small level of personal fortune with the hit single Young Folks, last year.
Taking a well earned rest from the burden of playing that and other records with the band, he now heads out to the masses with his own solo album The Last Tycoon.
If you approach it expecting it to be a continuation of that record then you will bbe severely disappointed, it’s not that sort of record. However if you can take it on it’s own merits, you’ll find a dusky, almost desolate sound that is even more stripped back than his group records, repeated plays reward you though and you soon warm to his vocals.
The album is out now through Wichita Recordings.
