Ryan J-W Smith - The Story So Far / Becoming
Building Seven’s lead singer Ryan J-W Smith has released two solo albums that i’ve been lucky enough to receive copies of in the post recently, both released through Inimitable Records, it looks like there will also be a worldwide release happening as well.
Although the differences between the two albums are noticeable, the overall feeling is of two chilled out albums that slide effortlessly into the background as you work, read or just relax. Becoming is the more mellow of the two albums, really chilled electronica with his distinctive vocal as smooth as ever.
The Story So Far is probably my favourite of the two, it has a funkier edge to the chilled out tomes, it mixes things up a little bit more in style than it’s predeccesor. Both albums are real coffee table classic potential, hopefully with the wider release he’ll get his music out to the audience it deserves.
