Jimmy Davis - The Variety Show EP

Jimmy Davis has everything going against him on the release of his debut EP The Variet Show. For a start the front cover (see picture above) makes him look like something off of a Crimewatch photofit, add to that the fact that he’s an Aston Villa fanatic (possibly the dullest club in the world) and i’m pessimistic about this release before it hits the CD player.

Luckily i’m not holding the above against him and i’m nicely surprised by the actual record itself, it’s easy on the ear, bang up to date with references hip-hop mixed with a kind of Jamie-T type style, both in the musings he utters and the actual music.

If you are into your UK hip-hop it’s an EP that is worth giving a listen to, you never know he may follow in the footsteps of fellow Villa fan Nigel Kennedy...only joking Jimmy I wouldn’t wish that on anyone!
