Apollo - This Is My Town
Apollo are a five piece band from Newcastle who seem to have their sights set firmly on being the next U2. I thought this before i’d even read the accompanying press release, which confirmed my thoughts. The question is, why would we need another U2 when we are already stuick with the one we’ve got?
U2 aren’t the only one they draw influyences from, you get hints of Feeder as well, unfortunately This Is My Town is all just a little bit too wet, i’m sure they are lovely guys but everything seems way too nice and as a result it leaves it with a dull sheen on most tracks, the exception to that being Forget It which had some really good guitar sounds.
Maybe just not my sort of thing but I’d be surprised to see them filling decent sized venues in most towns never mind stadiums and arenas.
