Overspill Poets - Thompson Falls

Formed on the back of the demise of Hug, Overspill Poets have delivered a terrific variety on Americana that actually has it’s home much nearer to us here in Leeds, with vocalist Tim Taylor actually born in Sheffield.

Released through Revenge Western records the album opens with the Billy Bragg style title track before moving onto the much punchier The Sound Of Sirens. They maintain this level of variation and interest throughout with Boxing Gloves being a brilliant highlight for me, closely followed by the jangly track The Neon Lights Are Beautiful.

Leave It Behind is the one track on here that goes a bit MOR but they pick up again to give us the delightful Ricochets and the bluesy ballad of Tomorrow When You Leave that closes the album off well.
