The Slits - Trapped Animal

Back in the day, a long way back in the day, 1977 approximately, The Slits were a force to be reckoned with, a bunch of angry young women with guitars, drums and p.m.t., they frightened the hell out of me, but they did release one classic album ‘Cut’ and their John Peel Sessions were absolutley stonkin.

Now they’re back to frighten the kids and raise some hell in a dreadlock stylee. Slightly more together musically than back then, but still doing the punky reggae thang, of these fourteen tracks, four are crap, four are fantastic, namely ‘Ask Ma’, a tirade against men who hate women and why, ‘Pay Rent’, a deliciuos slice of catchy off kilter pop,’Reject’, the punk element shining thru and ‘Babylon’ a big piece of white girl reggae that is irresistable…and the remaining four tracks are more than adequate. They shouldn’t be this good , but they are, so there.
