The Beat Surrender

Bristol based threesome Treehouse Burning released their third EP on download. The EP has five tracks, opening with Start which unfortunately for me was very run of the mill rock, this could have been any band on any night of the week in your local pub.

Well played but not stand out and perhaps not a good choice for the opening track, some people do really judge on first appearance’s . However listening on, the next track, I Lost My Head In San Diego was much much better. Faster in pace, the guitars raced along giving this a punk edge to it, much more my thing.

Next track was Indian Summer, it had a more melodic indie feel to it, this track really stood out for me, it had all the right ingredients for a classic pop/rock hit. Don’t ever change took a long time to get started, however the wait was well worth the effort, amazingly good guitars/drums with vocals which at first listen didn’t really go together but after listening through a couple of times they combined to leave us with a really strong memorable number.

Unfortunately the EP ended for me as it started, last track 1000 MPH just didn’t work for me, well played but just a bit flat and boring. I get the feeling that what I heard wasn’t quite the finished product, however what I did hear does make me think that there is better yet to come, a band to look out for maybe?
