Helzuki - Try This For Size
Formed in Brisbane, Australia in 2003, trio now based in London. Helzuki are best described as piano rock, not many bands have such a strong female vocalist. Leah (singer/songwriter) came to the UK with Matt (bass) they then hooked up with Lex (drums) came up with the name and hey presto.
The combination of suck powerful female vocals, the driving beat and beautiful piano are what will make this band stand out. However not sure it’s what’s missing in the music world at the moment. The overall sound is a little samey, not really different enough to make it stand out from the crowd of similar bands.
Particularly liked the more melodic tracks like Wish For, which suits the piano and softer side to Leah’s vocal range. The beat in V8 vas what made it rememberal, good strong bass line. When Crystal, the opening track first started I really expected Robbie Williams to belt out Let Me Entertain You, but even thought this was repeated through the track it couldn’t have been more unique. This track had the biggest impact on me, really grew on me. Other tracks are Metro, Medicine, Mainstream and Issues.
