Elika - Trying To Get Us Nowhere
Elika are a two piece band from Brooklyn who seem to have that natural New York cool that bands from the City must have in their genes.
Trying To Get Us Nowhere is the debut album released through UK label Fiercely Independent Records, it has a modern feel to it through the programmed drum beats that give it an air of electronica, but that is then offset with a shoegazing early 90’s feel in the vocals and layers of guitar.
it all works pretty damn well to be honest and i’m looking forward to hearing more from them, especially as it’s a relatively short seven track album that could maybe have done with two or three more songs on it.
