Brainlove Records - Two Thousand And Ace
Brainlove Records Presents Two Thousand And Ace, is a fantastic 27 track CD that you can pick up for a bargain price of £5 and as if that wasn’t enough you don’t have to pay any postage and packing either.
What you get for that little cash investment is one of the most varied introductions to underground music in 2008, it literally has something for everyone on here, from the discordant, slightly shambolic yet brilliant opening track And Ugly by Cats In Paris to the more measured brilliance of Napoleon IIIrd with his off the wall track Zebra.
Not every track will be to your taste, but then what do you expect from 27 tracks, I personally hated Pseudo Nippon but I loved the hip-hop styling of Ratface and the catchy as hell Turn It Down. As I was listening to it I was thinking that electronic music isn’t that well represented but then the second half of the album addresses that and left me with nothing left to tick off my list.
Star of the show for me though would have to be Orchestra Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp and Afrogarge, it’s slightly understated, yet utterly brilliant and I can’t stop playing that song, i’m pretty sure you’ll each have your own star of the show though.
