Malakai - Ugly Side Of Love

Malakai have been criminally over looked in my eyes so far this year, I just hope that the press / media (and record buying public for that matter) right this wrong in the end of year polls, as an album as good as Ugly Side Of Love should be getting screamed out.

Ok it probably doesn’t help that they keep quite a low profile for themselves but Scott Hendy and Gee have produced a brilliantly genre trouncing debut album that has something in it for everbody and is heading straight for my iPod as I can see this perfectly soundtracking the Summer ahead for me.

They mix everything from garge rock and 60’s psychedelia on tracks like Shitkicker (my fave on the album) and How Long, they show a more sentimental and emotional side on Fading World and the previously released (as part of EP 1) Moonsurfin still sounds as fresh and classy today as it did the first time I heard it.

If that doesn’t sound enough for you then you also get 60’s pop, samples, scratches, soul and breaks…surely you couldn’t want more than that could you?
