Teenagersintokyo - Very Vampyr
I’m not quite sure what is going on down under at the moment, but I can’t remember the last time we had such an influx of talented young Australian artists who’ve all emerged at the same time and started to make waves in the UK.
That’s a lie actually I kind of can if you take the word ‘talented’ with a big pinch of salt, I seem to remember Donavan, Minogue and McLachlan all bursting forth around the same time in the 80’s, trying to out perm and blow dry each other in the hair stakes!
Following on from the likes of Cut Copy, Muscles and Operator Please come the brilliant Teenagersintokyo, four ‘Sheila’s’ and an ‘Alf Roberts’, they make dangerously fun indie pop, fused with a nod to dance music bass and keyboards that will have the likes of CSS peering nervously over their shoulders.
If everything else lives up to the brilliance of the limited edition 7” Very Vampyr then we are in for a real treat with this outfit.
