The New Shapes - Waiting For A God
Jaw droppingly brilliant stuff from the most exciting band in Britain right now. You can forget the Arctic Monkeys (ok yes I do like them but you probably haven’t heard these guys yet), the best kept secret in music that could explode onto the scene at any moment is without doubt The New Shapes.
Debut single You Got Me Running Round was a fantastic starting point, but Waiting For A God takes things to a whole new level for me, an exhilarating post modernist punk rhythm drives the song along, confident vocals and what a tune, what a chorus. The b-side is also well worth a spin, New Queen is better than 95% of the singles I get sent to review on it’s own merits.
The single is released today on limited edition gatefold 7”. Rush out and buy it now, bunk off work if you have to, leave the kids with your parents….just don’t miss out….
