Viva Voce - Wrecking Ball
Viva Voce, now here is a band that I have quickly fallen in love with over the last six months. It started with me getting sent a couple of EPs earlier this year, playing one of them and then having to put it back on to the turntable to make sure I’d heard it right, such is the depth of the textures and layers that are put into each track from this husband and wife duo from Portland.
Rather guiltily I have to hold my hands up though and admit I’ve not been able to afford to buy either of the albums yet. Help is at hand though for skint people like me, as on the 14th November they are releasing both albums in a double pack in the UK. The Heat Can Melt Your Brain being the latest album, with the previously import only Lovers, Lead The Way joining it.
Wrecking Ball is actually taken from the first album (L,LTW), its a great choice of single though, tambourine beats and effortless vocals are all mixed in with swirling guitars to concoct a heady brew of pop music.
Roll on payday I’m counting down the days till I can get my hands on these two albums. Photo courtesy of Joey Belville.
