Ash - You Can’t Have It All

I know you can’t hark back to the past too much and bands obviously need to move on, but surely that has to be for the better doesn’t it? What has happened to the Ash of old, the young punky Ash that gave us the brilliant Jack Names The Planets and Kung Fu, or even the full of confidence Ash that gave us Goldfinger, Oh Yeah and Angel Interceptor?

Either way they certainly don’t have that creative spark running through them, You Can’t Have It All is amongst the most disappointing comeback singles i’ve heard from a band in years. Maybe just maybe Charlotte Hatherley stole all their creative juices when she quit the band to concentrate on her last solo album, anything less than a huge improvement from this singe to the album will have her winning this round hands down for me.

The single is out now with the new album Twilights Of The Innocents due out in June.

Weren’t most, if not all, of the tunes you mentioned pre Charlotte?

I seem to remember it was here that sucked all the creative juice out when Tim brougt her into the band…
