Two Wounded Birds

Sometimes a band just stops you in yor tracks when you hear them for the first time....it's rare but it does happen. Two Wounded Birds were a case in point.

There recent, debut EP Keep Dreaming Baby saw tracks getting played on the radio and the very first time I heard them on 6 Music I just stopped what I was doing, listened intently and have been hooked on them ever since.

Not only have we caught up with them for a quick Q and A session with band member Johnny Danger, but it also coincides with a free download they are giving away on their website on Valentines Day as well....happy times folks, happy times.

Firstly, tell us how the group came together and what your aims were when you started out together...

The group came about when Me and Ally got together a while back and decided it would be a good idea to form a group with the intention of making music that we really like. I think our aims were to just enjoy ourself and not be restricted by anyone or anything.

Has your time together changed those aims at all?

Not really, Its just enhanced those feelings, now we want to make a great debut record and write great songs and play great shows.

Your recent single got picked up on 6 Music, does it feel strange hearing yourself on the radio?

It's something that is so very special the first few times you hear it, it's nice that other people are enjoying what your doing.

A few people have tipped you for this year as ones to watch, does that put any additional pressure on you or is it a welcome boost?

I don't really feel any pressure because I'm doing what I always have been and I haven't suddenly thought because people are tipping us that I have to change what I'm doing. It's welcome really because I and everyone else works so hard.

Who are your tips for bands / acts to watch out for this year?

Oh, well, there is this band Dirty Hands who are writing really great songs at the moment that I really like. Then there is Young Friends, and a band I really enjoyed last year called Pure Ecstasy.

What are your plans release wise this year, any album news?

We've just decided to put out a free download valentines day then a single out in April. I would love to release an album this summer, or at the end of. Let's hope someone wants to put it out!

You’re shooting a new video soon and I believe you are looking for some extras as well, what would it entail and how can people get in touch if they are interested?

Part of it is a beach party and you can email our gmail if interested!

Do you feel any sort of kinship with any other bands around at the moment?

We are good friends with The Drums, they believed in us early on and took us on tour, so we owe them a great deal of gratitude.

What’s the song-writing / recording process within the band?

I write all the songs and then take them to the rest of the band, and then in the studio help direct/produce things.
