Welcome to Eureka Stockade, one of the finest indie bands to grace the Cambridge music scene in quite a while. I first had the privilege of hearing their guitar induced pop sensibilities a couple of years ago at The Corner House, Cambridge and have since witnessed the growth of both the band and the fan base first hand.

2010 proved particularly successful, with a number of prestigious gigs, a festival appearance at Windsor’s very own Trystonbury and a record deal with Crackin’ Tunes. The promise of this album had been lingering for a while, and it was well worth the wait.

It’s hard to believe that this self-titled album is a debut release, with its impeccably crafted pop songs that hide behind a wall of jangly guitars and ambiguous lyrics, Eureka Stockade have created an sound that pays homage to the likes of early R.E.M., Pearl Jam and The Smiths. Songs leave you with a feeling of nostalgia and a longing for a past that wasn’t your own just as its predecessors did.

The raw live sound is still there but has been enhanced with some ambitious overdubbing, made possible by a host of guest musicians including Katrina Polfrey (vocals on 'Broken Pieces'), Anna Scott (cello), Dave Greeves (pedal steel guitar) and Kerry Lambert (piano).
