Teenage Cancer Trust DVD

Previously unreleased footage from the legendary Teenage Cancer Trust benefit shows at the Royal Albert Hall are now available on DVD.

Packed with performances that capture the spirit of this unique event, including one-off collaborations between Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller and Razorlight and The Who’s Roger Daltrey, the DVD will be available from the Teenage Cancer Trust website (see link to the right) immediately at a special preview price. The DVD will then be available on general release from all good retailers from 14 April 2008. All profits from the sale of the DVD will go to Teenage Cancer Trust, helping them to continue to build specialist teenage cancer units within the NHS for young people with cancer.

Filmed live at London’s spectacular Royal Albert Hall, artists featured in the DVD include The Who, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, The Cure, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, Bloc Party and Judas Priest.

The TCT gigs were the brainchild of The Who’s Roger Daltrey, patron of Teenage Cancer Trust, who has, over the last eight years, persuaded the best of British talent available across rock, pop and comedy to give up their time to raise money for this unique charity.

Each day in the UK, 6 teenagers will be diagnosed with cancer – that is over 2,000 diagnoses per year. TCT funds specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals, providing an environment where teenagers can get on with being teenagers, a positive environment expected to improve survival rates and ensure a better future for patients and their families.

In 2008, the charity will open five new TCT units (in Leeds, Newcastle, Cardiff, Glasgow and Southampton) and will start building work on a further 2 (in Birmingham and Cambridge). More units are needed to ensure every single young person with cancer has access to one. Over the past seven years these Albert Hall shows have led directly to the development of three major Teenage Cancer Trust units across the country as well as much awareness for this neglected group of young people
