50 Cent - Curtis

After recently watching 50’s life story ‘Get Rich Or Die Trying’ it always helps to understand an artists life when listening to there music. Having also listened to 50’s earlier albums I have to say I like his stuff.

The new ablbum Curtis proves 50’s strenths as an artist to still stand strong alone and also make some great collaberations with many other well known artists.

This is an 18 track cd album with a mixture of solo tracks and collaberations. With the likes of Timbaland, Justin Timberlake (Ayo Technology), Akon (I’ll Still Kill), My personal favourite the one and only Mary J Blidge (All Of Me) and also sees the return of 50 Cent teaming with Eminem (Peep Show) .

Now in the words of my other half “All albums that follow the first are notoriously difficult for many artists” (this being 50’s 3rd major label album) but CURTIS seems to pull this one off perfectly.

As addictive as this album is after the first listen, it also has its down sides. Sometimes 50’s lyrics are not always up to scratch and seem to drift off to lose the point of his songs. I found myself listening thinking ‘have I not heard this one?’. Your expected usuall pimp, hoe, money & guns lyrics are all in there and I just think maybe it would be good to see him take a different direction to some of his songs.

Now afer saying all that I do have to give credit to this album. Each track would have you up dancing and the use of the beats and timings on each will make it very popular amongst a lot of people that never thought to buy it. This album will successfully follow the other ten times & double platinum albums he has produced before CURTIS.

50’s fans will love this album and those that aren’t … Try it! (oh an girls, check out the picks in the cd sleeve..mmm)

I’ll leave you with one of many of his famous quotes…

I’m not trying to save the world. As a musician and artist, it just ain’t me.”

Guess that says it all!

Have your say...
