Michael Jackson - King Of Pop

King Of Pop is the new hits album which was released 25th August from Michael Jackson. All the tracks have been exclusively picked and carefully selected by his world wide fan base. In total introducing 20 different adaptations of this album to twenty different countries. Each country selecting their favourite Michael tracks, creating their ideal album of Timeless classics.

King Of Pop is released to honour Michael’s 50th birthday and years of musical contribution. Now this to me sounds like a great idea. My initial thought though is why do we need another Michael Jackson album? We already have so many! Then I listened to it (The UK release)!! Being a HUGE Michael Jackson fan I never grow tired of listening to him. Who else has earned the right to the title The King Of Pop like he has? Sold the best part of a billion units, won 13 Grammys? Inspired the world with his dancing & musical talent and motivated just about every child growing up to spend hours in the mirror practicing his routines?

Despite his exocentric personal problems (for want of better words), musically… this man is a genius. Setting a milestone for every era and consistently living up to generation after generation of ever changing music industry, for me this shows his amazing diversity. The inner album cover sums this up perfect with the words ‘Michael has been one of the most famous men on earth for four decades and an icon for millions’. I agree. So why not celebrate that!

The album kicks off with the one and only dance floor classic Billie Jean followed by Bad, Smooth Criminal, Beat it, Thriller, at his best and in his prime Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough, Wanna Be Starting Something. Then you have some of his rarer releases. They Don’t Care About Us, his collaboration with Sister Janet Jackson on Scream, Remember The Time, my personal all time favourite Man In The Mirror... What more could you ask for?

17 Tracks of all time favourites and it’s simply not enough. For some these albums may be another way for Michael to milk even more money from his fans. For his fans this is one to definitely add to the collection, a great album and something that will certainly be well received. Rumours have it that Michael is also recording a brand new album. The question remains – We all know how good he was, this album proves it… But can he still pull it off and release new material that matches it…I doubt it!

Have your say...
