Shaheen Sheik - Revolution

When I slipped in Shaheen’s Revolution album, I instantly fell in love with the artists’ voice and movement. It has a groovy side to it; all the while having a personal message with each track. I wanted to know what she was unveiling; there’s a bit of mystique with a whole lot of sexiness, rhythm and significance to unfold. This album beautifully captures the interior of which is Shaheen’s personal revolution.

‘Night Call’ is the first track on this grounded CD; it puts emphasis on Shaheen the woman, “This is the tale of a girl who grew up over night”, as the second track ‘rEvolution’ puts the hierarchy on the album, “Cuz when she tells the story now, she’s gonna say it loud”, and believe me she does with this album, and we listen. There is so much culture and empowerment within her lyrics that it is thunderous.

We listen even more so as she gets her sexy on with the track ‘Elevate’ – “There it is, something I can move my hips to, you know what I mean”. You only need one line and you know exactly what she means. Each track has its own disposition from being romantic and saucy, to a contemporary-American-electronica with a Middle-Eastern-Indian flare. Who can say that in one breath? Shaheen can.

This album is a feel-good album – no drowning in your sorrows here. You suddenly find yourself standing tall and proud, especially the women. Men, no worries, this album is for you too – very sexy and tantalizing. The sun is shining, and you’ve a bounce in your step. Furthermore, there’s a flirting mongrel inside of us all, and you begin swaying your hips and undulating your sexuality.

Not to mention, there is a nightclub waiting for you to dance the night away – THIS is what Revolution does to you!

However, above all, the music in the Revolution album reflects the innermost, even secret feelings of Shaheen’s heart and soul. We understand within her music lies a confident, serene, free, melodious and sexy woman. The songs walk you through Shaneen’s existence, and with that you respect her even beyond her music.

I recommend listening to this CD and form your own opinion, as mine can only reach you no further than this chiming curiosity that you have now developed.
